Report

(Edited for the web)

by John Junstrom

Those participating in this Bible tract distribution and "sign holding" event arrived at 9am at the Gasparilla Parade site on Bayshore Drive and downtown Tampa. Tracts were distributed and signs held along the parade route as well as along the Brorein Street Bridge heading into downtown from the Bayshore Park. This bridge was not part of the parade route, but was a walkway from downtown to Bayshore Drive. And what a walkway it was! It proved to be very crowded as thousands (at least 100,000 to 150,000) of people were crossing from downtown to Bayshore Drive for the parade.  About a half hour after the parade started at least 100,000 people began crossing from Bayshore Drive back to downtown. Most of these people passed by me, seeing the big sign with a message from the Bible. Several people stopped to inquire about the gospel message on my big sign. At one point the sign was torn out of my hands. Another time a person angrily punched the sign, hitting my nose behind it.  Around 20 to 25 pictures were taken of me holding this gospel message sign, some passersby wanting to be in the picture as well.  Unbelievable!
In closing, I am confident that God's perfect plan was carried out for the declaration of His earthly word during this event, including the 50 or so Bible tracts taken by people who desired to have them.
